YOUTH ARE STRUGGLING MORE THAN EVER
The problem we see is a generation poised to F.A.I.L with skyrocketing Fatherlessness, Addiction, Incarceration, Loneliness
Fatherlessness
- 19.7 million children, more than 1 in 4, live without a father in the home.
Addiction
- 16% of kids ages 12 and older meet medical and clinical criteria for addiction.
- Teens use an average of just under seven and a half hours’ of entertainment screen media (7:22) per day—not including time spent using screens for school or homework.
Incarceration
- Roughly 1.2 million inmates are parents of nearly 2.7 million kids. That’s nearly one American child in 28 with a parent in prison.
Loneliness
- For youth, major depression increased 52 percent from 2005 to 2017
- Rates of psychological distress, which Twengen describes as "feeling nervous, hopeless or that everything in life is an effort" rose by 71 percent among people aged 18 to 25.
- Death from suicide increased by 56 percent among 18- to 19-year-olds between 2008 and 2017.
- More people have died or been injured in mass school shootings in the United States in the past 18 years than in the entire 20th century

ONLINE MENTORSHIP PLATFORM by taming mustangs
Connecting Mentors with Youth using stories and technology.
An online platform seeking to provide young people with a place to share their story, receive encouragement, and connect with a mentor who has lived through the same story or struggle.
Sharethestruggle.org was created so that with the wave of the chasing wild series, we could connect broken young people with mentors who understand their struggle.
